The Joy of Coffee

21 01 2012

As a teenager, I always wanted to work at Starbucks. There’s something about the atmosphere of the soothing music, smell of fresh coffee, and people studying that pulls me in. I always want to snuggle up in on of the comfy chairs with a book on a rainy day.

To my despair, every time I applied at Starbucks they never hired me. Maybe it was a Godsend because I’ve been working at the best coffee shop in town (yes, maybe I’m a little biased, but come by and try it and you’ll agree!) for a few years now and I can’t drink Starbucks coffee anymore – my coffee taste is too particular! Coffee Break has become my second home and I come by on my days off because I’m so hopelessly addicted!

My latest project has been to take some new pictures for advertising. Here are some of my favorites!

Pulling shots is one of my favorite things. The perfect brown color, wonderful aroma, and smooth taste! of the most important ingredients!

Featured in the Lynchburg Humane Society Newsletter!

21 01 2012

Good Morning on this rainy Saturday! I’m at work with my white mocha enjoying the coziness.

I am so incredibly excited to announce that Bentley is featured in the Lynchburg Humane Society’s latest newsletter! He was such a darling, energetic dog! I’m sad to say he wasn’t adopted over the holidays, but maybe his feature in the newsletter with bring people in to adopt! I absolutely love the dogs at the Humane Society and am always checking in to see who is there and give them a little loving! I would take them all home if I could. As of now, my one bedroom castle is already overflowing with my crafting supplies and shoes, so I’ll just keep dropping by to love on the puppies!

Stay dry on this rainy day and maybe while you’re out, stop by at your local animal shelter and give the animals some love!

Adorable Dogs at the Lynchburg Humane Society!

24 12 2011

Merry Christmas Eve! I hope you are having a wonderful, relaxing weekend surrounded by family and friends. I am currently sitting here with a peppermint white mocha and that just makes my day every time!

In the midst of the Christmas business I have finally found time to post these!

There is a special spot in my heart for the animals at the Lynchburg Humane Society.  My adorable dog, Chloe, (who is the topic of previous posts) was adopted from the Humane Society.  I stop by frequently to get to know these precious animals that are in need of homes.

At Coffee Break, we had a Christmas tree decorated with dogs in need of homes for the holidays. The problem is, a lot of the pictures were not good quality and hardly reflective of the dog’s personality. One Friday afternoon I spent some time getting to know some of the dogs and taking better pictures. Here are some of my favorites!

This is Hugo! Despite his big bark, he is the world's biggest snuggler!

This is Sloan. She's shy at first, but once she warms up to you she loves to play!

Andie and Sloan are kennel mates and best friends. Andie is adorable and bundles off fun!

Lucky has such a great personality and who couldn't love that one eared look?

The graceful beauty is Alette. She was so calm and well behaved. She has been adopted!

This absolutely beautiful boy is Webster! He has the cutest head tilt!

Bently, boy this guy was full of energy and lots of fun!

This is Conrad. He was very adorable and loved exploring!

Cookie was so sweet and lovable. She climbed up on the picnic table and looked at me with this puppy face.

Bruno was a small little guy. He was shy at first, but enjoyed an ear scratch. He has been adopted too!

Pamela was a sweet girl who definitely loved to explore.

Last, but not least is Teddy. He is a beautiful, spunky boy that will just steal your heart.

This picture was a huge hit at the Humane Society! Go Teddy!

I hope that I have the time to go back and take more pictures so more sweet dogs have a better chance of finding a forever home.

Have a wonderful Christmas!

Oh yes! I’m a photographer

I haven’t been very great about blogging this past week. I spent most of the weekend watching Jasmine Star on creativeLIVE, which was great. Sooo much information to take in all in a few days! She’s so inspirational though.

Today I got my first photography job. Its not really what I imagined I’d be doing, but I am thankful for the opportunity. I am going to be photographing clothes, shoes etc for a company that sells clothes on ebay. Its going to be fun to learn more about lighting and being creative with what I have. One more step to becoming a wedding/portrait photographer.

I’m also really excited that its finally warming up so hopefully I’ll have some pictures of adventures to post soon.

I hope you had a wonderful weekend and that your Monday isn’t too bad, as far as Mondays go…

The night was cool and crisp. Perfect weather for romping around in the grass and digging burrows. Its been months since he’s had the chance to jump so high with excitement. What a terrible mommy I am!

This is my cutie pie little bunny, Smudge, who I lovingly call Smudgie-poo. I took these pictures last fall, but letting him out last night reminded me of them and how cute they were!

That’s my little boy! 🙂 Hope these pictures brighten your day on such an overcast afternoon!

I know the other day I was so excited about warmer weather and spring being here. I had a great time exploring and snapping some pictures of springtime. The crazy thing is, there was snow on the ground when I got up yesterday morning! I hope the cold weather doesn’t kill the flowers that are out now!

I was thinking today is the perfect day for posting these pictures. We were fooled with a few weeks of warmer weather, so here’s to bring some spring back into your step.

Even though its Monday and its cold out–happy spring!

Springtime is here!

25 03 2011

I’ve been researching and reading reviews for the past week and I’ve been dying! The early spring flowers have been out for a few weeks and I can’t wait to take those beautiful macro shots that I dream about. Well, I am currently using my stock lens on my camera and I would love the Nikon Telephoto AF Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/2.8 ED-IF AF-S VR AF lens! But, seeing as how I’m not extremely rich at this moment, I decided to venture out this afternoon to take advantage of the overcast day. Boy am I excited how some of these shots turned out! As I fiddle around with my camera and learn how to use it, I’m learning to be more ok with my stock lens because part of the problem was me!

I’ll post more pictures on here later. I couldn’t help but post this one now as I started uploading them!

….do you think if I did a puppy face my wonderful husband would buy me a micro lens? 😉 I’m pretty sure I have the worst puppy face of all time…
